New York, May 2025 — Cassie Ventura, the singer and former partner of Sean “Diddy” Combs, gave emotional testimony in a New York criminal court this week, revealing details about alleged abuse and coercion during their relationship and rejecting claims that her accusations were financially motivated.
Ventura, the prosecution’s key witness in the high-profile trial against Combs, described participation in “humiliating” drug-fueled sex parties orchestrated by the rapper and music mogul. She testified that she was coerced into these sessions under threats of violence and that the experiences left her physically injured and emotionally scarred. Ventura tearfully said she would return a $20 million legal settlement from Combs if it meant never having participated in those parties.
Combs, 55, faces charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty and could face life imprisonment if convicted.
During cross-examination, Combs’ defense team suggested Ventura was an active participant and financially motivated. They highlighted text messages exchanged during their decade-long relationship, painting a complex and sometimes volatile dynamic but denying criminal conduct.
Ventura also discussed a separate legal settlement related to an incident at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles in 2016. Security footage shown in court depicted Combs physically assaulting Ventura, an event that is a key piece of evidence in the trial. Ventura shared messages sent to Combs after the incident, asserting her dignity despite the abuse.
Prosecution witnesses continued to testify, including Dawn Richard, former member of the group Danity Kane, who accused Combs of physical abuse and testified to witnessing an assault on Ventura in 2009. A US Homeland Security agent also testified regarding the seizure of cash, drugs, and baby oil from Combs’ hotel room during his arrest.
The trial has attracted intense media attention with large crowds gathering outside the Manhattan courtroom for daily proceedings. More witness testimonies are expected next week as the case continues.
