Indonesian authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with a violent shooting in Bali that left one Australian man dead and another seriously injured. The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday in a private villa located in Munggu, a village in the Badung district, a popular tourist area in southern Bali.

Victim Identified as Zivan Radmanovic

Zivan Radmanovic, 32, was found dead in the bathroom of his villa after two armed men broke into the property. His wife, who was inside the residence at the time, told police she was awakened by his screams and discovered his body shortly after. She was unharmed during the incident.

Another Australian national, 34-year-old Sanar Ghanim, was also shot during the invasion and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries in a Bali hospital. Local police confirmed that Mr. Ghanim was not only shot but also physically assaulted. His wife, who was present during the attack, witnessed the events unfold but was not injured.

Investigation and Arrests

Bali police announced that two suspects have been apprehended. One was captured in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, while the second was arrested abroad. Authorities have yet to release additional information about the second arrest or a potential extradition process.

Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack. During the on-site investigation, officers recovered 17 bullet casings, two intact bullets, and 55 fragments. Images from the crime scene, published by Australian media outlets, reveal multiple bullet holes in the villa’s windows and blood stains throughout the property.

Witnesses reported seeing the attackers flee the scene on a scooter, describing them as English-speaking men with strong Australian accents. One suspect was seen wearing an orange jacket and dark helmet, while the other wore a dark green jacket, black mask, and helmet. One of the individuals was reportedly heard saying, “I can’t start my bike,” before escaping the area.

Background and Australian Links

Australian media reports have linked Mr. Ghanim to figures in Melbourne’s criminal underworld. He was previously in a relationship with the stepdaughter of the late Carl Williams, a well-known figure in Melbourne’s organized crime scene. Additionally, Mr. Ghanim reportedly served prison time for his involvement in a non-fatal shooting in 2014.

Victoria Police in Australia acknowledged awareness of the Bali shooting. A spokesperson told the BBC that Victorian investigators would offer support to Indonesian authorities as needed.

Violence in a Popular Tourist Hub

The shooting occurred in Bali’s Badung district, home to several internationally known beach destinations including Kuta and Canggu. Violent incidents involving tourists are rare in Bali, which welcomes millions of international visitors annually and is considered one of Indonesia’s safest tourist regions.

Bali police have not yet disclosed whether the shooting was targeted or random, nor whether any weapons have been recovered. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.
