BlogHear.com – June 25, 2025 — Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, strongly condemned the leak of classified intelligence suggesting that recent US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites caused only limited damage. In an interview with Fox News on Tuesday night, Witkoff called the sources responsible for the leak “treasonous” and demanded an investigation.
The controversy stems from an early US intelligence assessment reported by CNN, in which seven individuals briefed on the matter stated that Iran’s nuclear program had only been set back a few months despite the US military’s use of 14 massive “bunker buster” bombs in strikes conducted on Saturday.
According to the leaked assessment, Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium was not destroyed, and many centrifuges at the targeted sites remained “largely intact.” Some intelligence sources also suggested that enriched uranium may have been moved from the facilities before the attacks.
Witkoff rejected these reports as “completely preposterous” during his Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham. He asserted, “There is no doubt that it [Iran’s nuclear capability] was obliterated.” He stressed that the suggestion the US failed to achieve its objective was “outrageous” and insisted those responsible for the leaks must be held accountable.
President Trump dismissed the CNN report as “fake news” on Tuesday, reaffirming the administration’s position that the strikes significantly damaged Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
US intelligence analysis is ongoing, and officials have indicated that assessments may evolve as more information becomes available.
The leak has raised concerns over the security of sensitive intelligence and comes amid heightened tensions in the region following the US and Israeli military actions against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
